Hello everyone,
Happy Christmas wishes to you all.
I hope the festive season is unfolding gently for you.
I encourage you to look below at the workshop news.
January 14, 15 and 19 I am running a 3 day MAPPING THE JOURNEY workshop at Opendrawer in Hartwell
February 20th I am running my LETS GET TOGETHER AND PRINT A BOOK workshop at Meeniyan.
Details and links for these workshops are below as well as reports on this month's workshops in my studio.
As you can see I have been playing with paper again. Nigel and I dyed a strong paper cover and pages for a travel planning journal and stitched them together ready to use.
I was also pleased with the book I made for the meeting exhibition at Papermakers of Victoria. I used fibre paper I had made from a palm and blue bells in our garden. The silk thread was included in the sheets as I made them. The digital images were printed on later. The muslin and Jacaranda sticks added strength and enabled the book to stand.
I also enjoyed the workshop on Altered books I did with Liz Powell.
Our Papermakers book project IMAGES OF LIGHT is completed and the participants are pleased with the results despite the challenge of making circular pages.
The Ready Set Go workshop was a great success. Beautiful journals were made and everyone started working on the pages of their journal to make them more inviting and to encourage further entries.
PAPERMAKING WORKSHOP
The two ladies who came to this workshop made some beautiful paper which I am looking forward to seeing in some future art work.
I am sure some Christmas tables will be adorned with tea light candles.
To start the new year I am running my MAPPING THE JOURNEY WORKSHOP at Opendrawer January 14. 15 & 19
Spend 3 days creating beautiful individual concertina books with attractive additions: envelopes, small books and stitched pockets will be part of your final work. This book can be a repository for memories of trips past or those just a dream, a companion for the journey.
This wonderful three days will include: Learning how to make your concertina journal and prepare a hard cover. You will be given many ideas for including your memorabilia. Envelopes, small books and pockets. These may be filled with your memories or remain blank for a future journey. Making a box or slip case to house your book.
Email me with questions of you wish.
LET’S GET TOGETHER AND PRINT A BOOK
Saturday February 20th 2016
at Meeniyan Gallery
Bookings through the gallery. meeniyanartgallery.com.au
Have you often wondered what to include in a blank book? Have you ever wanted to make a book with prints in it?
This workshop is a good way to get started on some simple printing which can decorate a book page. We will begin the day carving a simple block from a drawing of a tree, leaf or a bird. The concertina book we make will be a display space for our prints which we will share.
At the end of the day, you will have learnt how to make:
a concertina book in which we will display our prints
your own ‘soft cut’ print block
a clever hard cover, with no glue
You will take home a book of beautiful prints and a print block to use again and again.
Visit my web site for more images and information about other workshops I run.
Workshops taylored to your needs can be organised on request.
